The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac (2CD)

I originally had the 1988 green "Greatest Hits" album, but the digital remastering and song selections on "The Very Best Of" are both superior to that. You get all the hits and more here, and the songs are louder and clearer, even on low songs like "Dreams" and "Hold Me". I believe there is a 1 CD version of this album and a 2 CD; I bought the 2 CD. There are a couple of live songs on here ("Big Love" and "Go Insane") and the "single" versions of "Over My Head" and "Rhiannon". I prefer the album versions, but I’ll take the shorter ones, too. Although I love this version of "Big Love", I wish they had included the studio version from "Tango in the Night" as well. But I solved that problem: I bought that album, too. In fact, the 2 CD version of this album and "Tango in the Night" are the only two Fleetwood Mac albums I own, and that’s all I plan to own. These make my collection complete. Check it out!

Product Description In 1975, with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joining Mike Fleetwood, John McVie, and Christine McVie, Fleetwood Mac hit their stride. Their first album together produced 3 Top 10 singles, hit #1, and sold 5 million copies. Their 1978 follow-up, Rumours, won a Grammy and is one of the best-selling albums of all time. The hits just kept on coming, making Fleetwood Mac a true super-band. Now their hits and history are celebrated with the all-new 2-CD THE VERY BEST OF FLEETWOOD MAC collection! Also features “Silver Springs” currently out of print! Enhanced CD feature exclusive video footage of the band and a link to a private Web site for info and preview of their upcoming new record! Amazon.com Spanning 22 years, this double-disc, 36-track compilation chronicles the initially unlikely and ultimately triumphant conflation of a failing, veteran English neo-blues band (Mick Fleetwood and the McVies) with a pair of mercurial American also-rans (the baroque folk-rock genius Lindsey Buckingham and crypto-songbird Stevie Nicks). The creative alchemy was immediate, as 15 epochal tracks (“Dreams,” “Say You Love Me,” “The Chain,” “Don’t Stop”) from Fleetwood Mac and Rumours here attest. They could have arguably repeated that mega-successful formula for a decade, but chose a more musically expansive tack, represented “Sara,” Think About Me” and the other core tracks drawn from the ambitious Tusk. While the band’s megahit luster faded as the solo careers of Buckingham and Nicks took flight in the ’80s, their power was still apparent in the dusky-bright pop of Christine McVie’s “Hold Me” and “Little Lies.” Sequenced with compelling listening rather than chronology in mind, this set also includes the strongest of the Mac’s latter-day recordings (Nicks’s “Paper Doll,” “Silver Springs,” and “No Questions Asked”; McVie’s “As Long As You Follow”), as well the Lindsey Buckingham showcases “Go Insane” and “Big Love” from ’97’s The Dance. –Jerry McCulley

The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac (2CD) Review

I have been a Fleetwood Mac fan for a long time and was excited to find all the songs I love in a 2 CD set. Lots of other Greatest Hits albums from them are missing some of their best songs in my opinion and include others that weren’t so good. My favorite song from Fleetwood Mac is Stevie’s song "Silver Springs" which is so HARD to find on CD, as it wasn’t released as a single, though it was originally supposed to be on their colossal smash "Rumours," but it was cut. I was so happy it was on this CD set!Even though the band had many incarnations before Stevie and Lindsey joined, they had their best material after those two joined and this set features only music with this lineup, which I also liked. The set spans material from 1975’s "Fleetwood Mac" with hits like "Gypsy" and "Landslide," the huge hits from "Rumours" like "Go Your Own Way" and "You Make Loving Fun", all the way to their 80s hit "Little Lies. " Songs from their "The Chain" album from 1997 were also included. I was also excited to discover songs that I’d never heard like "Big Love" and "Storms. " The songs have been remastered, but they haven’t lost their quality at all and they still sound amazing. Admittedly, I listen to the first CD more than the second one because the first one has all my favorites on it. This is the ultimate collection from this iconic band and a must have for fans who don’t own all the albums as you get the best of each album on this. Highly recommended! -Read Reviews-

Everything under the sun. If you loved Fleetwood Mac back in the 70s and 80’s, then you have to have this CD set. This is a set that you stick in the player before a long drive. All their good stuff I s on here and a few that I’d never even heard. Recommend. You won’t be disappointed.
