The Big Fat Cow That Goes Kapow: 10 Easy-to-Read Stories Paperback – August 31, 2010 by Andy Griffiths (Author)

A fun book for young readers. I work with a special education child and he enjoys the many interesting and fun illustrations and he is eager to turn the page and try to read the text. I don’t have to argue about what to read with him since the book is so engaging! Makes my job so much easier! Check it out!

From School Library Journal Starred Review. Grade 2–3—Broad slapstick humor and galloping, Seuss-like rhymes are just part of the reason this sequel to The Cat on the Mat Is Flat (Feiwel & Friends, 2007) has strong child appeal. Denton’s funny illustrations are full of action, and his use of stick figures and stink lines makes the book look as though it had been illustrated by a cheeky but talented kid. The type layout is peppy and appropriate, breaking the story up with words that shrink or become enormous as the rhymes dictate. The 10 brief stories allow for frequent pauses but also flow together well, with some unexpected and witty transitions. A few challenging words (“underwater,” “squirm”) make this a book for more-competent beginning readers.—Paula Willey, Baltimore County Public Library, Towson, MD Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. My grandkids LOVE this book. We ordered it because The Cat On The Mat Is Flat was such a hit. This one is every bit as good. My grandson could read them both when he was in kindergarten. He’s in first grade now and I’ll bet he’s read them both ten times – not to mention all the times I’ve read them to the kids. We love it! -Read Reviews-

My rising kindergartener LOVES this book. She reads it cover to cover aloud quite often and laughs at the silly rhymes. It’s a great book for younger kiddos learning to read or bigger kiddos who need to work on fluency.
