Buy “Samsung HT-J5500W 5.1 Channel 1000-Watt 3D Blu-Ray Home Theater System (2015 Model) Electronics” Online
Bought this to replace our 10 yr. old 5 Disk DVD/VHS Recorder AM/FM Stereo Home Theater System after it started acting up and not opening the DVD trays (different brand). We have had this new Samsung for a little over a month. This new 2015 model works great, newest technology, 3D / Smart Blu-ray Home system with FM receiver. Better cost option than buying a Smart BD Player plus a separate Sound Bar. This up converts DVDs to give a great picture, almost dont have to spend the extra money to rent a BD disk, if you have a 42 TV as we do. It was easy to set-up connection to our home Wi-Fi. Make sure you check for and update the Firmware on the system. We had one update on ours already. The small speakers produce a really great sound for a home system in this price range. The wireless rear speakers are not 100% wireless. You have to plug the rear surround speaker wires into a 110v powered wireless box. Accordingly, if you want those speakers mounted on a wall, as we do, you will see the wires, and be limited to the spacing and placement distance from the 110v powered box. The biggest Dislike I have about this system is that I think Samsung made a design mistake by using Proprietary speaker wire Plugs for connection of the speakers to the main and surround speakers rear unit. They should have used speaker wire spring terminal connectors as they used on all of the speakers Why use half one type connection & half a different type connection? The spring terminal wire connections are very easy to use you have to use them anyway on the speakers! This design totally eliminates the use of heavier gauge better wires (included wires are very thin), unless you cut & splice the included wires! This also restricts the distance you can place the speakers from the main unit (wire size / gauge too small) plus the proprietary plugs on one end. Our rear surround speakers were placed on two sides of an open arch / wall span, so the design eliminates the use of my hidden wires for the rear speakers! According, we cant place the new ones there now. Overall I feel this is a good system, would recommend, not sorry I purchased, but just be aware of the above speaker wire complaints that I have. Check it out!
Samsung HT-J5500W 5.1 Channel 1000-Watt 3D Blu-Ray Home Theater System (2015 Model) Review
I ended up purchasing this from Beach Camera due to having a special offer and saved about $20 overall and still free shipping; $20 is $20!! Anyway, my pre-existing unit was a Sony and lightning got it. I already had places to put the wireless rear speakers and unit required to go with it so that helped on installation time. It only took me about 2 hours and that included taking all of my old system out, wrapping up the wires, clean up, etc. It is pretty awesome sounding, especially given the price. I hooked this up to my Samsung TV using HDMI. Pros: Great value Color coded wiring for easy hookup Great sound Plays Netflix without a hitch so far Has other neat features such as Mirror for looking at your smart phone or smart pad on the TV screen Wireless (Bluetooth) rear speakers. The speakers are wired to the wireless receiver module but, no wires running to the back the room Easy set up, period and that includes network setupCons: If you want your TV to play through the speakers you need to buy an optical cable and the Blu-Ray has to be powered on I found that where the speakers plug in to the rear of the main unit seemed to not firmly seat and easily pulled out when repositioning the unit I still have not been able to get my Ethernet cable to be recognized as a wired connection and had to use the wireless network connectionOverall, if you are on a budget such as I am, I believe you will find that the pros outweigh the cons and you will be happy with this HTIB system. Just don’t forget to order that optical cable or go to your favorite electronics store and pick one up if you want to play your TV sound through the speakers and turn your Blu-Ray unit on, or at least that’s how it was with my Samsung TV. Oh, and when you get that optical cable, it almost looks like the ends are not the right ones and most come with a small plastic/rubber cap covering the very tip and one must remove that small tip covering before inserting it into your TV and Blu-Ray. -Read Reviews-
5.1 Channel 1000-Watt 3D Blu-Ray Home Theater System
Dolby Digital, DTS Digital Surround
Input: 1 USB, 1 HDMI Out, 1 Digital Audio (Optical)

5 star all the way with this surround sound system, offers plenty features like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and YouTube. Plenty more when you get this system connected to your LED or LCD flatscreen television. The sound is phenomenal 1000 watts sounds like your inside a movie theatre, but your inside the comfort of your own home. Surround sound is not only for movies but watching cable television as well once you learn all the functions this systems has to offer. This system is used for a bedroom but I am sure it can be used throughout any room in a apartment or home. Only had this system turned up to minimal sound the bass from the subwoofer is awesome. Years of enjoyment with this system, Samsung in my opinion makes some of the best electronics on this planet.
