The book is fine. The edition with the white cover, train on the bottom and orange smoke is completely sub-par. (Get any other print edition instead. ) The printing . .. looks like it might have been a print to order . .. is done at a completely amateur level. The typeface is too fine and letters have all kinds of breaks within them. The type size is too small and the leading throughout the "book" is completely inconsistent. Really an insult to the concept of a book. I’m actually sort of pissed because there’s no excuse for not doing this right. Check it out!
Review “[Moves] smoothly and entertainingly to its surprise conclusion.” (Chicago Daily Tribune)“Nothing short of swell. [Christie] is probably the best suspicion scatterer and diverter in the business.” (New York Herald Tribune)“Need it be said—the little grey cells solve once more the seemingly insoluble. Mrs Christie makes an improbable tale very real, and keeps her readers enthralled and guessing to the end.” (Times Literary Supplement (London))“A brilliantly ingenious story.” (Dorothy L. Sayers, Daily Herald (UK))“It’s tempting to say that Agatha Christie is a genius and let it go at that, but the world’s had plenty of geniuses. Agatha Christie is something special.” (Lawrence Block, New York Times bestselling author)“What more…can a mystery addict desire?” (New York Times) –This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
Murder on the Orient Express CD: A Hercule Poirot Mystery Audio CD – Audiobook, CD, Unabridged by Agatha Christie (Author) Review
I am an enormous fan of Agatha Christie’s. I have been since I was a 10-year-old girl and I watched Death on the Nile on the big screen. I began reading her books and short stories, even if I didn’t understand them all. This one is definitely one of her most popular books. Her #1 bestseller however is And Then There Were None, which is not to be missed, I can assure you. Like None, this one has been much talked about and much parodied. A lot of Kindle editions are frustrating. I have the Death on the Nile Kindle edition and to my dismay, it’s missing a key part of the book! This book requires a map of the train and in a similar fashion, Nile requires a map of the boat. Nile doesn’t have it, or it didn’t when I bought the book. This one however does. Phew! That’s a key element. Really though, book reviews are incredibly bland when it comes to this book because you can read eighty years worth of reviews all over the web. Why come here to read reviews? What matters to me, and I’m sure to some of you, are the editions. Are they loaded with typos? Are they missing information? Does it have any extras such as prologues or epilogues? All in all, this Kindle edition is very well done. I just wish that they had linked the map in chapters or whatnot. If you need to find it, it’s page 78 (this Kindle edition has actual page numbers) or location 1174. Grab yourself a hot cup of tea or coffee, find a nice comfy, chair, couch or even a bed, curl your feet up under you and enjoy the show. This is a train ride you’ll never forget. -Read Reviews-
This is a pretty classic murder mystery novel. Murder happens, evidence is reviewed, people are interviewed, and the detective solves. The writing was generally easy to follow and the ending was certainly interesting! I won’t include any spoilers, but it wasn’t how I thought it would end. I love a good twist! It’s actually the first true murder mystery novel I’ve read, so I was pretty pleased. That said, I do wish I could have been able to solve the mystery on my own. In order to do that, it seems I would have had to know some facts that were impossible for me to know (because it’s based around another fictional story, which we only receive little information on). Otherwise, worth a read, as it’s a very highly regarded book.
