After shaking the world back in 2015, Fifty Shades of Grey returns with its sequel "Fifty Shades Darker". I was really excited to see the movie adaptation for this part because it was the best book in my opinion of the series and the trailers made it seem very close to the original source but I was afraid because the first movie was not pretty loyal to the book. I went to a midnight showing of the movie, and it didn’t dissapointed! "Darker" is a big improvement from the first movie, delivering the same strength, a pretty nice adaptation that stays loyal to the original source almost all of the time, and delivers the thrills and romance we were all expecting. If you loved the book you won’t be dissapointed. Fifty Shades Darker continues Christian and Ana’s love story in a great way, this time delivering mystery, lots of steamy action, even some well-executed jokes in between, and something that I found really refreshing is that all the changes that were made were for good! The cinematography is well-done, the direction improves a 200% and Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson do a great job returning as the iconic lead characters, supported by returning faces and some new ones. Overall, Fifty Shades Darker is entertaining, exciting, and it was worth the 2-year wait! I left the movies feeling very satisfied and I can’t wait to get it on Blu-Ray but I’m for sure going to watch it again on theaters. Check it out!
Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson return as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades Darker, the second chapter based on the worldwide bestselling Fifty Shades phenomenon. When a wounded Christian tries to entice a cautious Anastasia back into his life, she demands a new arrangement before she will give him another chance. As the two begin to build trust and find stability, shadowy figures from Christian’s past start to circle the couple. Jack Hyde (Eric Johnson) and Elena Lincoln (Kim Basinger) join the cast, determined to destroy the couple’s hopes for a future together. This time there are no rules.
Fifty Shades Darker – Unrated Edition (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD) Review
As with some of the other reviews I agree that there is a lot missing from the movie that was in the book. They removed characters (e.g., Ana’s roommate’s brother, which was was the reason for her going back to her apartment, when she ran into Leila). They also changed how they got back together. …. He did not just show up at Jose’s show (in the movie). … In the book, after sending her flowers, he emailed her and there was communication before he drove her to the show, so that they could talk. Deleted scenes like this take away the flow. …. Then they added the scene in the movie where Jack (in mask at the masquerade party) takes a picture of the Christian’s adopted family on the stairway wall. How did Jack get to the party???? And the scene with Elena was quite boring. …I don’t know why they couldn’t have included everything in the book. In the book Elena was mean to Ana, which was why Ana threw the drink on her. In the movie Ana seemed out of line throwing the drink in Elena’s face. … I agree that Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have chemistry, but they don’t "emote" the feelings that are articulated in the book. This is called acting and I think that Johnson doesn’t have her "chops" yet. She’s all about being sexy to Dornan, but there is more to this Darker story than just sex—again, in my opinion. All in all, the book was MUCH better than the movie. ….. I hope that "Freed" delves more into Grey’s background so that one gets a better understanding of the flow. -Read Reviews-
I enjoyed this movie better than the first one just because the actor’s seemed to work better with each other and you can tell they are more comfortable. However the first movie seemed to follow the book more than the second one. Several things have been left out of the movie that I really wish they had put in the movie, like him going to his therapist before Anna said yes to marrying Christian. But other than that I can’t wait for the last movie to come out in this trilogy!
